-       progettazione dell’opera

-       preparazione del reticolo

-       preparazione del piano di calce e conseguente stampa del reticolo

-       taglio manuale delle tessere mediante gli attrezzi tradizionali, martellina e tagliolo

-       realizzazione del mosaico su stucco provvisorio (letto di calce)

-       incollaggio della tela sul mosaico e successivo strappo dal supporto provvisorio

-       fissaggio del mosaico al supporto definitivo (base in legno x es.)

-       lavaggio del mosaico dalla colla con distacco della tela

-       rifiniture

-       Progettazione dell’opera

-       Preparazione del reticolo

-       Scelta del materiale e taglio manuale

-       Preparazione del legante e parziale stampa del reticolo

-       Proseguire col l’ultimo punto finchè non si è terminato il mosaico

-       Rifiniture

Beginner level

Total lenght of weekly 40hr, that take place over 5 days .

During the course, there will be realized two mosaics both by direct technique on temporary stucco and definitive technique. The student will learn the manual cut of the tessere by using the chisel and

marteline as well as the mosaic execution with the ravennate technique.

The mosaics will be copies of roman, byzantine and middle age ones and used materials with be solely stony ones. Total cost of the course 500,00 €.

With a little extra money also enamel and gold will be made available.

Direct technique on temporary stucco (Ravennate technique)

-       Work planning

-       Grid preparation

-       Lime preparation and consequent grid press

-       Manual cut of the tessere with traditional tools , marteline and chisel

-       Realization of the mosaic on temporary stucco (lime bed)

-       Glueing of the canvas on the mosaic and extraction from temporary support

-       Mosaic fixing on definitive support  (wood for example)

-       Mosaic washing from the glue with detach of  the canvas

-       Finish

Direct technique on definitive stucco

-       Work planning

-       Grid preparation

-       Material choice and manual cut

-       Binder preparation and partial grid press

-       Prosecution  with the last point until the mosaic is completed

-       Finish
